Dock is built around a local-first experience.
This Privacy Policy explains what information Dock stores, how it is used, and what happens when you browse websites inside Dock.
Dock is designed as a local-first app. We do not operate user accounts, analytics tracking, advertising tracking, or a remote backend for storing your workspace data.
Dock can open third-party websites inside Android WebView or your external browser. Those websites are controlled by their own operators and may collect data under their own privacy policies.
Dock stores the information needed to run your workspace locally.
Dock stores the following information locally on your device.
Web app names, URLs, icon URLs if detected, and custom icon images you choose.
Icon color, theme, icon size, apps per row, WebView header visibility, and connection alert preference.
Whether an app is pinned, the order of pinned and regular apps, and pinned app status.
Recently opened app timestamps stored locally to show recent apps in your workspace.
This information is stored on your device using Android local storage, including the app database and app preferences.
Website Metadata
When you add or analyze a website, Dock may connect directly to that website to fetch basic metadata such as page title, web app manifest name, website icon, Apple touch icon, and an Open Graph image if needed as an icon fallback.
This request is made from your device to the website you entered. Dock does not send this information to a Dock server.
Your Dock workspace is stored on your device.
Dock uses Android local storage to keep your saved apps, preferences, pinned state, recent activity, and custom icon assets available on your device.
- Saved apps and related metadata are stored in the app database.
- App settings are stored in app preferences.
- Custom icons are stored locally in Dock's app storage.
- Dock does not require a Dock account or cloud backend to store your workspace.
Saved web apps open inside Dock using Android WebView.
When you open a saved web app, Dock loads that website using Android WebView.
Websites opened inside Dock may use their own technologies, including cookies, LocalStorage, SessionStorage, IndexedDB, cache, login sessions, and third-party cookies depending on the website.
These are controlled by the websites you visit and by Android WebView behavior. Dock does not control the privacy practices of websites you open. You should review the privacy policies of those websites separately.
Dock requests permissions only when needed.
Dock may request access only when you use a related feature or when a website opened inside Dock asks for a device capability through WebView.
Dock does not download files directly inside the app.
If a website tries to start a download, Dock shows a warning and lets you open the download link in your default browser instead.
Some links may open outside Dock.
External browser links, mailto: email links, privacy policy
links, and other non-web app links may open in another app.
When this happens, the selected external app or browser handles the link under its own privacy policy.
Dock includes an optional connection alert feature.
When enabled, Dock checks whether your device has an active validated internet connection while browsing.
This check uses Android network status APIs. Dock does not send your network status to any server.
You control export and restore actions.
Dock lets you export and restore your workspace configuration.
A backup file may include:
- Saved apps
- App names
- URLs
- Icon references
- App colors
- Pinned status
- App order
- Recently opened timestamps
- Dock settings
Backup files are created only when you choose to export them. You are responsible for where you save or share those files.
Dock may also be included in Android system backup depending on your device and Google or Android backup settings. Such backups are handled by the operating system or backup provider, not by Dock.
Dock keeps your data on your device until you remove it.
Dock keeps your saved apps and settings on your device until you delete an app from Dock, clear or reset settings, restore a backup that replaces existing data, clear app data from Android system settings, or uninstall Dock.
Custom icons stored by Dock remain in local app storage unless removed through app data deletion or uninstalling the app.
Dock lets you pin apps for faster access.
Dock lets you pin apps so they appear in a dedicated Pinned Apps section while still remaining available in the main All Apps list.
Pinned status is stored locally on your device. Dock does not send pinned app information to any Dock server. You can pin or unpin apps at any time from the app options menu.
Dock uses Android storage and WebView security features where available.
Dock uses local Android storage and Android WebView security features where available, including safe browsing support on supported Android WebView versions.
Dock blocks pages with invalid SSL certificates instead of continuing to load them.
No app can guarantee complete security. You should only add and open websites you trust.
Dock is not designed to knowingly collect personal information from children.
Since Dock does not use a Dock-operated account system or backend, we do not knowingly collect children's personal information.
Websites opened inside Dock may have their own age rules and privacy practices.
You can control the data stored by Dock.
- Editing or deleting saved web apps
- Removing custom icons
- Clearing recent apps
- Resetting Dock settings
- Exporting or restoring your workspace
- Clearing Dock app data from Android settings
- Uninstalling Dock
You can also deny Android permissions such as camera, microphone, or location when prompted.
Websites opened inside Dock are usually third-party services.
Dock is a launcher and browser-like workspace for websites. Websites you open inside Dock are third-party services unless they are owned by Dock or Vritra Security Organization.
Dock is not responsible for the privacy practices, security, content, or data handling of third-party websites.
This policy may be updated as Dock changes.
If the app adds new data collection, account features, analytics, cloud sync, or server-side services, this policy should be updated before release.
